Magnifying
Sustainable personal and professional growth because of, not despite, your divorce.
When you first think of a
divorce you likely think of loss...
Lost money, lost time with your kids, lost love, and lost retirement dreams.
All just fading away, minimizing... shrinking. But hold on!
What about those hardy, resilient souls that bounce back and
forge a happier and more fulfilling life for themselves?
DO THEY HAVE SOMETHING YOU DON’T?
The short answer is a resounding, “NO!”
They simply recognized that there were many lessons to extract from their
marriage and divorce so they committed to sustained growth.
They recognized rock bottom and decided, “Well, if I am here, I’ll be darned
if I don’t get something out of it.” And so, they set their mind to
working on, magnifying even, the most important aspects
of their life: their kids, their money, their future.
These days everyone is
talking about divorce coaches.
You have your lawyer, you have your therapist, do you really need
a divorce coach? Well no, right about now all you really need is
to go back in time and not marry your soon-to-be-ex.
Why a divorce coach?
When you tell your therapist that a “GAL” has been assigned to your case, she is likely going to wonder who this girl is and why you need her. Or when you mention a “motion” she may think you stuttered while trying to process an e-motion. You got to a great place with your therapist, but then your progress seemed to just... stop.
Mental health professionals provide a very necessary service and have a place in your divorce, but many do not offer the targeted support or perspective that you need to really…
get through your divorce and grow
And then there’s your lawyer, smart as a whip. Feisty. The very person you need to get you divorced. But at $500 an hour, the last person you want to run to for a vent session.
Divorce coaching is here to stay.
In fact, with close to 700,000 divorces and 1 million children affected each year
in the United States alone, the American Bar Association has formally
recognized divorce coaching as a form of dispute resolution.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Divorce coaching is suitable for any stage of the process. Once you have decided to pursue a separation or divorce, you should engage a coach to help with all the non-legal aspects of the process. On the other hand, your divorce may be ancient history but you may still feel stuck in anger and negativity. A divorce coach can help you heal more expediently, design a life of your dreams and finally move on.
-
Absolutely, if you are a human that wants to function at your optimal during divorce and magnify your life beyond, then you are suitable for coaching.
-
Coaching helps you function at your optimal as you move from A to B. We are not going to waffle for hours, we are going to set goals, outline objectives and match them with coaching interventions. While Shrinking Divorce is your thought partner throughout the process, we do not recommend you fire your therapist. For one, the two are complementary to each other, but most importantly, coaches cannot diagnose or manage mental health conditions or concerns.
-
A coach can help you get organized, provide education and practical advice, but a coach cannot provide legal strategy or advice. Coaches stay in their lane by covering these key areas: mindset, organization and goal setting. A good coach can significantly reduce your legal fees by helping you make decisions based on facts and not emotions.
